Working Framemwork

This working framework is to define the objectives of the foundation, the specification of beneficiaries, setting out the duties and responsibilities of the partners, the administration and management of the Foundation and other matters that relate to the Foundation.

Main Objective of the Foundation:

To invest in the development of orphans and vulnerable children in, Zimbabwe with particular emphasis on education. The main objective is amplified by the goals stated hereunder.

  • to help the Orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe access education
  • to source, provide and give material assistance to the Orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe
  • to network and link Orphans and vulnerable children to other bodies and or Foundations that can render the same type of assistance as REF to the needy students
  • to partner and associate with other organisations (local and international) with the main aim of assisting Orphans and vulnerable children

Specification of beneficiaries

The beneficiaries shall be Orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe who meet the following requirements. This shall be without limitation on the Foundation’s discretion to adjust the requirements on a due consideration to the circumstances applicable on the ground. Additional qualifications can also be put. These shall be more fully outlined on the Selection policy which may be amended from time to time by the Foundation

  • students who show a lot of potential
  • students who are needy and underprivileged
  • students who display ability
  • students who show discipline and hard work
  • The pupil must be an orphan. Preference will be given to a double orphan, then a maternal orphan, then a paternal orphan. [double orphan is one with both parents late, maternal orphan is one whose mother is late and paternal orphan is one whose father is late.

CMF shall also work in liaison with the school administrations, church leaders and other student stakeholders in identifying beneficiaries.

Scope and extent of CMF Scholarship

  • Payment of school fees: School fees [tuition, levy and other moneys paid to the school] The disbursement of money shall be determined by the funds available at the time of disbursements, priority shall be given to tuition fees.
  • Funding life skills training activities: These can be in the form of seminars, workshops, camps or other activities that are meant to develop students in areas like personal growth and management, guidance, leadership and ethics.
  • Provision of educational accessories: This includes uniforms, stationery, etc.
  • Provision of accommodation at the Chandiwana Memorial Village

 

 

CMF Trustee’s responsibilities

  • Identification, assessment and approval of beneficiaries.
  • Liaison with school authorities where the students are learning, either before or after they have been approved as beneficiaries of the foundation
  • Monitoring the progress and development of the beneficiaries
  • Continuing/discontinuing of a beneficiary from the Foundation
  • Arranging activities for the benefit of the beneficiaries
  • Giving periodical reports on the program
  • Giving periodic financial reports on the Foundation
  • Management and administration of the Foundation
  • Liaison with the beneficiaries families or guardians
  • Designing structures for the administration of the Foundation
  • Designing mechanisms and structures to ensure a self-sustainability of the Foundation in the long run
  • Overall responsibility on the establishment, implementation, maintenance and development of the Foundation
  • Proper and safe custody, disbursement, investment of moneys and resources received for the benefit of the beneficiaries.

As with all new beginnings the Foundation will start small and with time develop into a big entity. Who despises the day of small beginnings?

SELECTION CRITERIA [BENEFICIARIES]

The beneficiaries will be considered on the requirements outlined below. It is acknowledged that many will successfully satisfy the requirements. The assistance will be from Grade 1 to Form 6 (A level). However the sponsorship will be granted annually and renewed subject to conditions which will be advised to the shortlisted pupils:-

  • The pupil must be an orphan. Preference will be given to a double orphan, then a maternal orphan, then a paternal orphan. [double orphan is one with both parents late, maternal orphan is one whose mother is late and paternal orphan is one whose father is late.
  • The pupil must be good academically or show potential for excellence. Preference will be given to a pupil with a traceable good record in school.
  • The pupil must be of good character and morals. A pupil should have a good report at home and at school.
